Travel support funding opportunities for participation in the Third International Scientific Symposium on Marine Plastic Pollution, 20-22 October 2026, Harpa Conference Centre, Reykjavík, Iceland #AtlanticPlastics2026.

Citizens of ODA eligible countries
The Icelandic Government is pleased to support researchers from ODA eligible countries (OECD DAC definition) for participation in the #AtlanticPlastic2026 Symposium.
Grants will be awarded subject to availability of funds to cover travel cost (economy class) and accommodation associated with participation in the symposium.
Approved amount will not exceed 3,000 USD and will be refunded upon receipt of proof of purchase. Deadline for applications is 15 August 2026 and applications will be evaluated and answered by 2 September 2026.
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicant must be registered for the AtlanticPlastics2026 Scientific Symposium. Atlantic Plastics 2026.
- Priority will be given to applicants with an accepted abstract for either a poster or oral presentation at the #AtlanticPlastics2026.
- The applicant must complete and submit the online application form below.
- Support is subject to the number of applications and available funding.
- Priority consideration will be given to applications from nationals of Atlantic Ocean Coastal States.
Arctic citizens
The Government of Iceland, in cooperation with PAME International Secretariat, is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of travel grants to support representatives of Arctic Indigenous Organizations and young Arctic professionals to participate in the 3rd International Symposium on Marine Plastic Pollution; Arctic to the Antarctic (20-22 October 2026) in Reykjavik, Iceland (#AtlanticPlastics2026).
Grants are subject to the availability of funds and will cover travel costs (economy class) and hotel accommodation. The maximum grant amount per approved participant will not exceed USD 3,000. Reimbursement will be provided upon submission of proof of purchase. The deadline for applications is 15 August 2026. Applications will be reviewed and applicants notified by 2 September 2026.:
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be registered participants of #AtlanticPlastics2026
- Applicants must be either:
- a representative of an Arctic Indigenous Organizations and/or Indigenous community; or
- a young professional (under 35 years of age) working in a field relevant to the symposium themes.
